Sea Turtle

One day left and I will be able to call some place home for at least a month.  I can't wait.  I haven't bought on single gift for the holidays.  It looks like the gift card rack at Walmart for me.  I have been able to do a little painting for my friend Dave.  He loves sea turtles.  So, this ones for you Dave.

Baby It's cold Outside & Inside Too

Living on a sail boat can really be a challenge.  Last night was really cold.  After listening to A Prairie Home Companion we cleaned the dishes and went to bed.  My only wish for Christmas is a heated toilet seat.  That being said I still haven't started on the Nativity but I did get a Secret Santa Gift made for mailing.  It is my Lady GaGa Elf.  I hope who ever get's it loves it as much as I do.

I forgot to post a picture of the mask I made for Halloween...
Sooo here it is.  (Not me in the picture.)

What Next?

I think my next project will be a nativity.  We have a small tree (really small) and some snowmen.  I will have a nativity of some kind to go under the tree by the time we get to Florida.  Let's see what happens...

Decanting the Wine

Thanks to our friends Dave and Hye-Yun we were able to enjoy a little wine along with a nice sunset.

No WI-FI

Good old Murphy has struck again.  I was able to get out on my phone card for a day or two and now there is a problem.  Oh well we are in a safe harbor tonight and we have WI-FI but no showers or toilets, you can't have everything (The Harbor Master says the water situation will be remidied soon.)  I do have a couple of pictures of the sunsets and birds along the way.  Ida, or what is left of her will be visiting us for the next couple of days so we may be a little wet around the gills.

New Pics Big Trip

Getting ready for big trip down the Intracoastal Waterways starting at Mile Post 0.  I hope to take some good pictures, do a little painting and leave a little pieces of art along the way.  I have changed my mind many times about an art project for the trip.  As of today I think there will be moon phases and fish invloved.  So keep a look out starting Nov. 8th.  Whatever happen it will be fun and maybe I'll see the man in the moon along the way.

Can it Really Be November?

Trick or Treat

My altered book group is having an exhange this month of haunted houses.  I am just about finished with mine.  I just need to mount it onto chip board.  I created it with microsoft publisher and photoshop.  It was really a lot of fun.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I guess summer is over.  I had to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt today...  May get some interesting pics down by the waterfront.  Lots of tall ships in port from Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race.  It must have been a rough ride because 20 boats dropped out of the race.  Oh well lots to see anyway. I'll see if there are any pirates on my tour.Go to portsmouthboatclub.org for more info on the race.

Head full of ideas

I spent a couple of hours in Jerry's yesterday.  I don't know how they can sell some of this stuff so cheap.  I picked up some paints and brushes along with a couple of journals.  Now all I have to do is put some of this stuff to good use.  Wish me luck...

I have had so much fun this week with post card art.  Two bloomsbury inspired pieces were a lot of fun.

Crack of Dawn Creations

What to do, what to do, what to do.  I had just watched the latest episode of David Letterman and the Sandman was not visiting my neighborhood.  So the Green Genie decided to come out and play.  The idea of this large mass of plastic floating around somewhere in the ocean, haunts me.  Please, Please everyone use your own bags. Make them, buy them, refuse plastic at the store, you really don't need a bag for a carton of milk...  But I regress, there are lots of ways to have fun in the wee hours of the morning and this one doesn't want pancakes.  I have been saving my bags like a good steward of the earth, but what do you do with them.  Here are a few of my Crack Of Dawn Designs.  I folded the bag into four layers, then fused the layers together placing pieces of copy paper on top of and below the plastic, so as not to damage the iron.  I then painted the plastic with acrylics, sewed the bags in a random manner and creating a quilted look in the shape of a purse.  Give it a try it is addicting.

New Poject

I finally got my mojo back, I created a shrine to The
Norfolk Mermaid.  I had a lot of fun creating a sand castle from an oatmeal box.  After painting, adding sea glass, shells, and other do-dads, I made a funky mermaid, planted her in her new home and shed a little light on her bodacious tatas.

Windows Are Open, Let In The Breeze

A really good breeze is kicking up,   the windows are open and dusting will be in order tomorrow, who cares, it's wonderful not to have the a/c running in the background.  I need to get upstairs and work on a couple of projects.  I can't get my mojo going this week.  Ideas come and go but just don't stick.  Maybe a walk will bring some inspiration.

I wish I knew the story of some of this china and pottery.  I hope I can use some of the glass in my totem to the sea.

Sea Glass

Low tide on the beach celebrated a bounty of glass this trip.  I found three bottles, some china and plenty of glass.  The captain was a little dismayed by my bounty.  I have to get all the gunk off my treasure and take some pictures of my prizes.  Our trip was cut short due to tropical storm Danny.  The group decided to head back home after one day on the water (Better safe than soggy...)  We had a wonderful dinner and a great sail or should I say motor sail (No Wind) home.  Better luck next time.

Bay Adventure

A sea glass safari is just what I need.  I have a happy little place on the bay that always brings special treasures.  On my last adventure I even found large bones and flow blue china pieces.  We will see what this adventure brings.

Dusty Diablos

I have cat duty this weekend.  My parents have gone on a well deserved vacation.  I hope to hit a couple of garage sales while I am out.  I am on a quest for spoons.  Here is a preview of Michael DeMengs new book.  It looks yummy, he is such a unique individual and so free with ideas, I really learned a lot about color from him.  I hope this book is more about technique that his last.

Music

I was finally able to get my jukebox to show on this blog.  I don't really care if anybody else like this stuff.  I love it all...

Went to great exhibit yesterday at Art Works in Richmond VA. Landscapes of the Soul by Maximo Laura from Peru was such a treat.

If you never had the joy of experiencing Michael Hedges live, I'm sorry. It was one of life's pure joys. He was such a child of the universe. This symbol is from one of his Cd's Nomad Lands. It reminds me of the Native American Petroglyphs. If I get this music thing going I will treat you to Aerial Boundaries.

Music

I tried to download some music last night and add it to my blog but the box was so big it was hidden by the text area. I guess I will have to poke around and find the magic formula...

New at all this stuff

Going to experiment today cutting metal and adding glass. My butterfly project is still stuck in my head. It will be stuck there for weeks if I don't get on it soon.

  1. When did it change from... All of a sudden to All of the sudden?
  2. When did it become OK to say screw on network TV?
  3. When will I feel good about reading the newspaper again (too many full page ads)?
  4. When will Michael Vick stop being headline news?
  5. When will I stop cutting butterfly shapes (200 so far)?
